The 10-digit unique alphanumeric number issued by the Income Tax Department is
an important civic and financial identity document. Yet many PAN cardholders
find themselves with outdated or incorrect information on their PAN card.
It is crucial to promptly rectify mistakes such as typos in your name or
outdated addresses, as a valid PAN card is a prerequisite for various

card correction online and offline — a task that is much simpler than you
might expect.

Registration and token generation:

Under the ‘Select PAN Application Type’, choose ‘Changes or Correction
in existing PAN Data

Select ‘Individual’ under the ‘Select Applicant Category’

Complete the ‘Applicant Information’ section with the correct details

Tick the check box and tick ‘I am not a robot’, and click ‘Submit’ to
send the application

Keep safe the token number you received on your registered email ID for
future reference
Input personal information:

Click the ‘Continue’ option, and you will find three options to choose
from:

Submit digitally through e-KYC and e-Sign (Paperless)
- Submit scanned images through e-Sign
- Forward application documents physically
Follow the steps below if you are submitting digitally through e-KYC and
e-Sign (Paperless)

Choose the option: Submit digitally through e-KYC and e-Sign (Paperless)

Click ‘Yes’ to receive a Physical PAN card and ‘No’ to receive only a
digitally signed e-PAN card at the email address

Your current PAN number will be automatically retrieved from the
previous page
- Enter the last four digits of your aadhaar card

Select ‘Yes’ for your photograph in Aadhaar to be printed on the PAN
card, or select other modes for application if you select ‘No’

Tick boxes for the sections you want to make corrections or updates in
existing data
- Select your ‘Gender’ from the drop-down menu
- Complete the parents' details section

Provide contact details, select the country code, review the
automatically captured data, and click ‘Next’
Document submission and confirmation:
- Review the pre-filled areas

Select ‘Copy of PAN’ for Proof of PAN from the drop-down
- Complete the ‘Declaration’ section

Enter the number of enclosed documents, specify the place, and click
‘Submit’

On successful submission of details, you will be navigated to the
confirmation page
- Enter your Aadhaar number and confirm the details

For editing, select the ‘Edit’ button, and you will be taken to the
application pages for correcting details
- Click ‘Next’ and you will be taken to the payment section
Payment and authentication:

Initiate payment of application fees by choosing one of the many payment
methods

Upon successful payment, you will be taken to the authentication page
-
Tick the check box to provide consent for using Aadhaar details for the
purpose of PAN change or correction application
- Then continue with e-KYC authentication

Upon successful authentication, you will be taken to the e-sign portal
for the digital signing of the application

Re-enter your aadhaar number and provide consent for e-sign for PAN
change or correction application
- Click on ‘Send OTP’ for OTP authentication
-
On successful authentication, the application will be digitally signed,
and a digitally signed PDF will be displayed on the screen

You will receive your e-PAN within two hours, and the physical PAN will
be delivered to your doorstep
Follow the steps below if you are submitting scanned images through
e-Sign:
Input personal details:

Scroll a little and click ‘Yes’ to receive a Physical PAN card and ‘No’
to receive only a digitally signed e-PAN card at the email address
- Enter the last four digits of your Aadhaar card

‘Photo Mismatch’ and ‘Signature Mismatch’ will be automatically selected

Select ‘Details of Parents’ (Applicable only for Individual applicants)
to correct and update information regarding your parents

Choose the parent name you wish to be printed on the PAN card and click
‘Next’ to proceed and save the draft

Complete the contact and other details section with accurate address
information and click ‘Next’

Overall, tick the small check boxes against each section that you wish
to update or correct
Document submission and confirmation:

In the ‘Document Details’ section, review proof of documents, and for
Proof of PAN, select ‘Copy of PAN’ from the drop-down menu

Complete the ‘Declaration’ section, upload a passport-size photograph, a
signature in the right format and size, and supporting documents, and
click ‘Submit’
- Enter the last four digits of your Aadhaar card

Enter your name as per your Aadhaar card, and select your gender

‘Photo Mismatch’ and ‘Signature Mismatch’ will be automatically selected

Select ‘Details of Parents’ (Applicable only for Individual applicants)

Payment and authentication:

You will be redirected to pay fees for the online PAN card correction
form

Select your preferred mode of payment, click ‘Terms of Services’ and
‘Proceed to Payment’

Click the ‘Pay Confirm’ option, authenticate your payment, and receive a
‘Success Payment Receipt’

Click the ‘Continue’ option, confirm the check box, and select the
‘Authenticate’ option

Click ‘OTP Generation’ and submit the OTP received on the email
ID/mobile number linked with your aadhaar card

Click the ‘Continue with eSign’ option, tick the check box, provide your
aadhaar number, and click ‘Send OTP’

Enter the OTP received on the Aadhar-linked mobile number and verify the
OTP

View the application PDF file by entering your date of birth as your

- Submit your PAN correction request
For the digital (paperless) option - ‘Sign using Aadhaar-based e-Sign’:

Note down the reference number generated after you submit your PAN
correction request

Fill in the CSF Form with accurate information in the personal, address,
and other details sections

Tick the check boxes against each section wherever applicable

Click on the ‘Next Step’ button after completing the current section and
moving forward to the next section

After completing the photo and signature section, complete the
declaration and confirm that the information submitted is true

Lastly, upload applicable documents for identity proof, address proof,
DOB proof, PAN proof, father’s name proof, applicant’s photo, and
signature

Select either ‘Correction in Name’ or ‘Change in Name’ radio button
- Review and submit the correction form
- Click the ‘Make Payment’ option on your screen
- You will be taken to the payment gateway page

Fill in the mandatory fields, click on ‘BillDesk’, and select the
‘Confirm Payment’ option

Choose your desired payment method to finalise the payment

After successful payment, you will be redirected to the e-Sign
authentication page

Enter your Aadhaar number, OTP sent on Aadhaar-linked mobile number,
tick the consent box, and submit

Either click on the ‘Download Signed PAN Form’ or the ‘Print’ option to
download the application form
